— How it works —

The whole interface is one tap.

Plant Pal sits in the soil. iOS reads the tag the moment your phone is close. Canopy opens to the plant, logs the care, recalibrates the next window.

1

Bring your phone close.

Hold the top of your iPhone near the leaf. The tag wakes up — no app to open, no scan to start.

2

Canopy opens to the right plant.

iOS reads the tag, hands off to Canopy, and you land directly on the plant's log screen.

3

Pick the action. Done.

Water, fertilise, repot, prune. Canopy writes it to the journal and recalibrates the schedule from real data.

The streak builds quietly.

Patterns emerge. The schedule sharpens. The plant grows. The journal fills in.

— Why Canopy —

Built around the relationship, not the database.

Tap is the whole interface.

Plant Pal makes the act of caring for a plant the act of logging it. No fumbling, no choosing the right plant from a list of forty.

Your plant, your pace.

First-guess watering, then live calibration. No streak guilt — ever.

Care consult.

An assistant that already knows your plant's history. Ask in plain language.

A journal, not a checklist.

Every plant has its own chapter — notes, photos, the time you almost lost it. Care logging is just the spine that runs through.

— The Plant Pal Collection —

Three designs. One quiet little system.

Each Plant Pal is a hand-painted leaf you press into the soil. Passive NFC chip, no battery, no expiry.

— Voices from the canopy —

People who would have forgotten to water Monty, mostly.

I have eleven plants and I used to remember exactly zero of their watering schedules. Now I tap. That's it.

The AI care consult talked me through saving a fiddle-leaf that was clearly trying to leave me. It worked.

I like that it doesn't yell at me about streaks. My monstera doesn't care about streaks. It just wants water on Tuesdays.

A few honest answers.

Email hello@canopy.app for anything we missed.

No. Canopy is a complete plant journal on its own. Plant Pals just make logging effortless — they're the difference between "I'll log it later" and tapping your phone once in passing.
A Plant Pal is a passive NFC tag — no battery, no power. Your phone briefly energises the chip when held near it, the tag tells iOS which plant it is, and iOS opens Canopy to the right place.
Yes. The leaf is sealed PET, the stem is anodised aluminium, the chip is encapsulated. Splash, soil, and sunlight are fine. Sustained submersion isn't.
The journal, logging, and Plant Pal tapping are free. The AI care consult is part of Canopy Plus — we'll share pricing closer to general release.
Public iOS release is planned for autumn. Android isn't on the roadmap yet — NFC on Android is a different beast and we'd rather do it right than fast.
US and Canada, with the UK and EU joining over the summer. Pals ship in compostable kraft envelopes within two business days.
